Not sure when to move up to Intermediate Reformer?

Intermediate classes introduce a quicker pace, more complex exercise combinations and a greater balance challenge. Before moving up, you should feel confident and comfortable with the foundations of Reformer Pilates.

As a guide, you should be able to:

  • Maintain good form and control during plank-based exercises
  • Perform lunge sequences with good balance, without needing to hold the footbar for support
  • Find and maintain alignment in a variety of positions and movement patterns
  • Move confidently around the Reformer and understand how to use the equipment safely
  • Be familiar with our Fundamentals exercises and their names, so you can follow instructions without needing each exercise fully demonstrated
  • Transition between exercises comfortably and keep up as combinations become more complex

You don’t need to be perfect at everything! The main difference at Intermediate level is that we build on the foundations you already know, allowing us to increase the pace, balance challenge and complexity of the class.

If you’re unsure whether you’re ready to move up, just ask your instructor, they will be happy to advise you!
